The Art of Batik
Batik is the ancient Indonesian art of waxing, dying, boiling and sun drying fabrics. On the tropical island of Bali, artisans carve and sculpt metal “chops” that are used to hand stamp dye-resistant wax onto cloth. Dying the cloth and then boiling out the wax exposes a hand created pattern on the fabric. This process is usually repeated many times and creates a beautiful piece of batik art. No two pieces are exactly alike. All of Hands to Hearts batik garments and accessories are truly “one of a kind”.
